Description: Our young adults are struggling. Depression, anxiety disorders, self-harm, and suicide are all on the rise for teens in the United States. At the same time, American teenagers are averaging 8 hours and 56 minutes of digital media use per day. How do we change these patterns so young people will lead lives that are healthy and productive? Stop by the FUEL exhibit and learn how the FUEL Program will use traditional sailing aboard a world-voyaging ship to address these critical problems experienced by young adults. FUEL's mission is to guide learners toward being mentally and emotionally healthy, excited for their adult lives, and intellectually curious. By utilizing a high-adventure experiential approach, the FUEL Program will help youth thrive.
June 16 2022 Update: With heavy hearts, Phin and I have concluded that we are overwhelmed by the continuing impediments that confront a successful effort and are resigned to join the numerous other efforts that have thrown their hands up. For this reason, the 2022 Maine Boatbuilders Show is officially cancelled.
